Celebrating 250 Years: The Georgia Reads for America250 Challenge

How to Complete the Georgia Reads for America250 Challenge
The challenge runs from March 3 through December 31, 2026.
Follow these steps to join the celebration and earn your prizes:


Step 1: Join Your Age Group:  Sign up on the Beanstack app or visit the library to get started.
There are four categories to ensure everyone can participate:

Children: Preschool through Elementary
Middle School
High School

Adult

Step 2: Choose Your Book: Read at least one book from the official America250 Booklist for your age group.
This curated list of 25 titles features stories that explore 250 years of American history.

Step 3: Complete the Activities: To finish the challenge, you must complete one activity from each of the eight activity categories listed in Beanstack. These activities are designed to help you engage with our community and national heritage.

Step 4: Collect Your Rewards: Once you’ve logged your book and activities, stop by the Jenkins County Memorial Library or the Screven County Library to pick up your prizes:
An official certificate of completion.
A commemorative sticker.
A patriotic silicone bracelet.


Win a t-shirt: The first 10 children to finish will receive a limited-edition Georgia Reads t-shirt (Youth Large)! plus a prize bag.

Win a copy of Georgia at the US250: The first 13 middle, high and/or adult to finish will receive a copy of Georgia at the US250 plus a prize bag.

Georgia at the US250 offers a compelling portrait of Georgia’s past by showcasing more than 50 historical objects and documents — a window into the state’s legacy, identity, and evolving role in America on the eve of the nation’s 250th anniversary.

There will be six (6) drawings for a prize bag.
1. Memorial Day Drawing on May 26, 2026
2. Flag Day Drawing on June 15, 2026
3. July 4th Drawing on July 6, 2026
4. Constitution Day Drawing on September 17, 2026
5. Veterans Day on November 11, 2026
6. Grand Prize Drawing on January 4, 2027
